YWAM Pneuma Springs

Terms and Conditions, Staff & Volunteer Agreement, Assumption of Risk, and Release of Liability

1. Introduction

Welcome to YWAM Pneuma Springs ("YWAM Pneuma Springs," "the Ministry," "we," or "our"). By submitting an application to serve as Staff, a Mission Builder, or a Volunteer, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to the following Terms and Conditions.

These terms are intended to establish mutual understanding regarding ministry expectations, financial support, conduct, and liability.

2. Definitions

For purposes of this agreement:

Staff (Missionary Staff) refers to individuals serving as long-term missionaries with YWAM Pneuma Springs. Staff members are missionaries and are not employees of YWAM Pneuma Springs.

Mission Builder refers to individuals serving in a support capacity for a defined period without becoming missionary staff.

Volunteer refers to individuals serving on a temporary or occasional basis.

3. Eligibility Requirements

Missionary Staff

Applicants seeking a Staff position must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age.

  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to Jesus Christ.

  • Agree with the mission and values of Youth With A Mission (YWAM).

  • Successfully complete a Youth With A Mission Discipleship Training School (DTS) before beginning Staff service.

  • Complete any required interviews, references, orientation, and approval process.

Completion of a DTS is a prerequisite for Staff acceptance.

Mission Builders and Volunteers

Mission Builders and Volunteers are not required to have completed a DTS. Acceptance is subject to ministry needs, qualifications, and approval by YWAM Pneuma Springs leadership.

4. Understanding of Missionary Staff Status

I understand and acknowledge that:

  • Staff members of YWAM Pneuma Springs are missionaries.

  • Staff are not employees of YWAM Pneuma Springs.

  • Staff do not receive wages or salaries from the ministry.

  • Staff are responsible for developing and maintaining their own personal financial support through donations, churches, individuals, or other approved sources.

  • YWAM Pneuma Springs does not guarantee financial support, housing, insurance, benefits, retirement plans, or paid leave.

  • Continued ministry service depends upon maintaining adequate personal support and remaining in good standing with YWAM Pneuma Springs.

I understand that fundraising is an expected and ongoing part of missionary service.

5. Financial Responsibility

Each participant agrees that they are personally responsible for:

  • Personal expenses

  • Transportation

  • Medical insurance

  • Personal property

  • Passport and visa expenses (if applicable)

  • Emergency expenses

  • Living expenses unless otherwise agreed in writing

Any ministry support received must be used according to applicable ministry policies.

6. Code of Conduct

Participants agree to:

  • Conduct themselves in a Christ-like manner.

  • Respect YWAM leadership and ministry policies.

  • Demonstrate integrity, honesty, humility, and accountability.

  • Maintain appropriate relationships and behavior.

  • Respect ministry property and equipment.

  • Follow safety instructions.

  • Comply with applicable local, state, and federal laws.

YWAM Pneuma Springs reserves the right to dismiss any participant whose conduct is inconsistent with ministry values or who presents a safety concern.

7. Medical Authorization

Participants certify that they are physically and mentally able to participate in ministry activities.

Participants are responsible for disclosing any medical conditions that could affect safe participation.

In the event of an emergency, YWAM Pneuma Springs is authorized to obtain emergency medical treatment when reasonable efforts to contact the participant or emergency contact are unsuccessful.

The participant agrees to be financially responsible for any medical expenses incurred.

8. Assumption of Risk

Participation in ministry activities involves inherent risks that cannot be completely eliminated.

These risks may include, but are not limited to:

  • Travel

  • Vehicle transportation

  • Outdoor activities

  • Physical labor

  • Construction projects

  • Ministry outreach

  • Illness

  • Injury

  • Weather-related hazards

  • International travel risks

  • Acts of third parties

I voluntarily assume all known and unknown risks associated with participation.

9. Release of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, I release, waive, discharge, and hold harmless:

  • YWAM Pneuma Springs

  • Youth With A Mission

  • Its directors

  • Officers

  • Staff

  • Volunteers

  • Missionaries

  • Board members

  • Representatives

  • Agents

from any and all liability, claims, demands, causes of action, damages, losses, costs, or expenses arising out of or related to my participation, including claims arising from ordinary negligence.

This release does not apply where prohibited by applicable law or to claims arising from gross negligence or willful misconduct.

10. Photography and Media Release

I grant YWAM Pneuma Springs permission to photograph, film, or record my participation.

I authorize the ministry to use these images and recordings for ministry, educational, promotional, fundraising, website, print, and social media purposes without compensation.

11. Personal Property

I understand that I am solely responsible for my personal belongings.

YWAM Pneuma Springs is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to personal property.

12. Ministry Participation

YWAM Pneuma Springs reserves the right to:

  • Accept or decline applications.

  • Assign ministry responsibilities.

  • Modify schedules.

  • Change housing assignments.

  • Suspend or dismiss participants when necessary for ministry operations, safety, or conduct.

13. Governing Law

This agreement shall be governed by the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to conflict of law principles.

14. Severability

If any provision of this agreement is determined to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

15. Entire Agreement

This document constitutes the entire agreement regarding participation with YWAM Pneuma Springs unless supplemented by written ministry policies.

16. Acknowledgment

By signing the staff/volunteer application, I acknowledge that:

  • I have carefully read this entire agreement.

  • I understand the expectations of serving with YWAM Pneuma Springs.

  • I understand that Staff are missionaries who raise their own financial support and are not employees.

  • If applying for Staff, I certify that I have successfully completed a YWAM Discipleship Training School (DTS).

  • I voluntarily accept these terms.

  • I assume the risks described above.

  • I release YWAM Pneuma Springs from liability as described herein.

  • I understand that this agreement is legally binding.
